Advance Gay Downwind Kite Safari in Brazil 2024

We return to our favorite destination, Brazil, and we do it with the most ambitious edition of Gay Kitesurf trips.

This time we will be doing downwinds for advanced level kiters from Icaraizinho to Atins, with stages of between 40 and 70 km per day. This means that we will go fast and you have to reach an average of 20 km/h in some sections. It will be a total of 15 days, crossing three states and venturing into magical places of difficult access such as the Parnaíba river delta and the unique lakes of the Lencois Marenenses.

Conditions on this trip will be tougher than on previous occasions due to the long distances of each stage and at certain times limited of rescue services. This trip requires an advanced level of kitesurfing and experience in self-rescue as well as being able to ride donwind a few metres from the shore.

It will not be a relaxing trip precisely because the idea is to travel through the water as we change from one point to another, in fact we will sleep in 9 different places.

What are the dates of the trip?

The trip starts at Fortaleza airport on 23 August at 21:00 and ends on the evening of 6 September (time to be determined) also at Fortaleza airport.

Make sure to take a flight to arrive before 23 August at 21:00 and leave after 6 September, so it is recommended to sleep the night after in Fortaleza.

Flights to Fortaleza, everyone must buy their own ticket.

Lunch and dinner, but the places we visit have many food options.

What is the accommodation like?

We will be staying in Brazilian Pousadas of superior/standard level above 8 in booking. From the organization we will try to have a room for two and three people maximum and everyone will have a single bed, but in some places it is possible that two people will have to share a big bed.

How many gay kitesurfers are on this trip?

Places are limited to 12 people.

What kind of security do we have?

We will have 2 guides in the water who will guide us at all times on the downwind, from start to finish. We will have 4 4×4 vehicles that will accompany us as far as possible along the coast, although not always due to the lack of roads along the coast. There will also be support in the water when crossing certain rivers. It shall be mandatory to wear a float impact vest for areas where there is no rescue.

How much does the trip cost?

The trip costs €2,250 per person.

What luggage can I bring?

Only 2 pieces of luggage are allowed, one kite bag per person and one cabin bag or backpack. It is important to respect the luggage space reserved for each traveller. If someone is carrying more than the allowed amount of luggage, he will have to find a locker at Fortaleza airport.

What size kites should I carry?

For a 75 kg person we recommend carrying a range of 8 to 12 meters with two bars if possible.

Can I cancel my trip?

Gaykitesurf is a non-profit LGBT community of kitesurfing enthusiasts, so the people organizing this trip are simply acting as facilitators of a holiday among friends. Therefore, cancellations are not allowed and there will be no refunds once the first or last payment has been made, unless a replacement person is provided by the person cancelling.

We have taken this decision to avoid disinterested bookings or last minute cancellations, which have happened on previous trips.

Please understand that organizing such an exclusive trip requires a lot of effort and dedication of our free time. If you cancel your space may have been taken by another kitesurfer in the club and too late to be replaced.

How do I book the trip?

To book the trip you need to fill in the pre-booking form. We will contact you shortly via whatsapp to request the first payment of 50% of the trip to confirm the booking within the next 5 days. If you do not proceed with the payment, you will lose your pre-booking. The second payment must be made when we request it a few weeks before the trip.
